The Soil is Ready

Thanks to the handy work of JC, the soil is ready. It has been weeded, raked, tilled, aerated, and overall polished for some massive seeding this Sunday.

Last year, in Amazing Race style, we ransacked the vegetable kiosk at Home Depot when choosing what to plant. We planted:
  • Three beds of sweet potatoes, pumpkins, and squash
  • Four tomato plants
  • Six pepper plants
  • Thirty onions
  • Giant Sunflowers
  • And, Eight Rows of Corn
The result was nothing short of amazing, which is probably why I am hooked. So, I am excited to see what we decide to plant this year. Stay Tuned!

30 onions! Be sure to buy lots of gum this summer ;) So your plants are pretty tall. I went with the seeds this year. I've never started a garden with just seeds so we shall see what happens. Right now they are growing in the dining room. I'm figuring my garden will be neglected this year anyways with the babe coming. Did you put any mulch or extra soil/fertilizer down? You should stop by this weekend and give me some tips!

Haha! They were little onions, so the stink wasn't too strong..it that was last year, though. No onions this year.

We will put mulch down in the flowers beds; helps keep the moisture in, especially on those hot summer days.

We added fertilizer to the soil when we tilled the garden area, so it is pretty easy.
